Frequently Asked Questions
Can we order lunches from you? We would be happy to pack a picnic lunch for you. You can see our picnic options here.    Do you have age / weight restrictions? SOAR Canoes are safe, comfortable and forgiving for the WHOLE family. We have had pregnant women all the way to 100 year old grandparents come down the river with us. I have never been on a canoe before, Can I handle this? SOAR’s work kinda like bumper boats, you’ll bounce off of things without risk of tipping your canoe and people generally get the hang of paddling fairly quickly. We’ll give you some paddling tips at the beginning of the trip to help you along Are you open all year round? Our season is weather / water dependent. Typicall we are open from Mid April - Mid October. Can I arrive after 10:00am? Currently that is our first, last and ONLY start time. So if you wanna head down the river please try and arrive by 10am. How long is the trip? The trip is almost 9 river miles long. It can be completed in as little as 3 hours. Trip time is dependent upon how quickly you paddle and how often you stop. On average our guests take 4.5 hours to complete this trip. What kind of physical shape do I need to be in? I’m pregnant, can I still take this trip? Of course! We pride ourselves on the fact that EVERYONE can come down the river. SOAR’s are safe, comfortable and forgiving. Bring a strong paddling partner, and enjoy lounging across the tubes while taking in scenary. How do we get back from the end of the full day trip? At the start of the trip we will provide you with a dry bag and ask that you bring a cell phone with you on the river. You will call our office from a designated place on the river that is approximately 1 hour from the end. That allows us to run shuttles based on those calls and our customers needs. Alternatively, you can have your own car shuttled downstream. While you are on the river we will drive your car down to a locked parking lot at the Wohler Bridge in Forestville. Arrive at the end of the trip and be given back your keys and access out of the parking lot. We are only able to shuttle a certain number of cars per day and this service is based on a first come first served basis. This service is free of charge to customers renting SOAR’s. How do we get back from the end of the half day trip? The first return shuttle leaves the half day take-out at 3:00pm. Additional shuttles will run every 30 minutes until 5:00pm. The last shuttle runs at 5:30pm.         Can I bring my own boat? Absolutely! We often have people use a combonation of SOAR’s and their own boats. We will do our best to accomodate any fellow river rats with their own boats. Click here to view our shuttle service options. What size ice chest do you allow? Inflatable boats make for a lot of room for ice chests. We’ve never had one that doesn’t fit. With that in mind, it’s only a day trip. Pack responsibly. You’ll have to haul these things up a small hill to the parking lot at the end.
Do I have to sign a liability release? Everyone will need to sign a liability release in order to take our trip. Parents / Guardians will need to sign for people in your group under the age of 18. Our liability release can be printed and signed before the trip to save time. You can find our release here.
